Challenge set for 3214 leaders

Northern Futures in partnership with the Leaders for Geelong program has launched a new initiative this year that will help to educate and motivate members of 3214 suburbs to lead their community into the future.
The Barwon Community Leadership Program is a ten month program that will give participants the opportunity to hear from experts in a variety of fields and learn more about the opportunities and challenges facing the Northern Suburbs and beyond.
The program is aimed at members of the community that are already actively demonstrating their leadership qualities, for example by being members of the Corio Norlane Advisory Board, local Neighbourhood Houses, or as a member on the board or committees of management of local community centres.
Northern Futures Executive Officer Lou Brazier said the new program will be a wonderful opportunity for members of the 3214 community to deepen their knowledge and challenge themselves to make a difference.
“This program has been based on the existing Leaders for Geelong program that prepares the region’s next leaders to take the helm and successfully lead our city into the future,” she said.
“We hope that the Barwon Community Leadership Program provides the same inspiration and motivation to emerging leaders in Corio and Norlane to follow a similar path so that the northern suburbs can continue to make an important contribution to the prosperity of the Geelong region.”
The program will give participants the chance to further their education qualifications with the opportunity to achieve a Certificate II Business Management with potential for up to Certificate IV with Gordon TAFE.
