Partner Profile: Homes at CREATE
Northern Futures is happy to acknowledge its ongoing strategic partnership with
CREATE. CREATE has been a major supporter for the Northern Futures project,
offering funding towards the program’s ongoing initiatives.
CREATE recently launched a new project called Homes at CREATE. The Homes
at CREATE project is aiming to expand the current CREATE at Work Social
Enterprise. The project builds and markets transportable living units. It has
already seen great success with a number of Living Units on Order and two units
already built and on display.
The vision of this project is to continue its already strong growth. When the
Homes at CREATE Project becomes fully operational it will provide accredited
training, specialist employment and practical experience in areas such as
building and construction, engineering and administration.
Homes at CREATE will employ and train participants from Geelong’s 3214
suburbs. The project is aiming to target a wide variety of demographics including:
- Long term disadvantaged job seekers
- Retrenched workers
- Unemployed and disengaged youth
- Aboriginal job seekers
- Mature aged unemployed and
- Out of work apprentices
Workers will be trained and accredited in elements of pre-apprenticeship building
and construction. Trainees will complete Certificate II in Construction Induction
and will be marketed to local businesses with a skills shortage area.
Currently the Homes at CREATE project is seeking capital assistance from
various government bodies. This assistance will help the Homes at CREATE
project respond to a real need to provide housing, training and employment
outcomes.
