Northern Futures Website Launched
During a trip to Geelong, Minister Lenders visited the Norlane Community Centre to hear
about the different projects at work in the 3214 suburbs, including Northern Futures.
The launch of the website was a significant step for the initiative with the aim to use the
site as a central point for information on news and activities for those already engaged
with Northern Futures and those who are interested in becoming involved.
It is also hoped that it will increase awareness of the initiative amongst the local
community and key stakeholders.
Northern Futures Executive Officer Lou Brazier was honoured to have the Treasurer
launch the site.
“It was wonderful to have Minister Lenders "flick the switch" and be part of a very
important milestone for Northern Futures,” Ms Brazier said.
“We hope it is the first of many collaborations with government to help make a difference
to those who live in Geelong's northern suburbs.”
State Member for Lara and co-chair of Northern Futures, John Eren MP, also welcomed
Minister Lenders' involvement in the launch.
“I am very pleased to see that the Victorian Government has invested and continues to
invest much time, energy and resources through the Neighbourhood Renewal project in
the 3214 area, which is making a real difference towards making the Northern Suburbs
of Geelong a great place to live, work and raise a family,” Mr Eren said.
“I along with the wider community also greatly appreciated that the Treasurer John
Lenders was able to visit the Norlane Community Centre to listen and hear first hand,
about the initiatives that are working towards making a difference in the Geelong
community.”
